Career in Tire Industry

I think my real fascination began when I needed to purchase a set of tires for my Land Rover LR4. I went off-roading once and hoped to do it again so I wanted tires that would support that kind of activity while lasting a long time with typical over the road traveling. The Land Rover weighs close to 2 tons so that is a lot of pressure on the tire. I had purchased a set of inexpensive tires previously for the Land Rover and they didn’t even last 10 months! This time I wanted the tires to last, even if I had to pay more. My family used to own and operate a tire store for 45 years where my brother was the salesman for many of those years. For my new set of tires my brother explained to me what treads would grip the road better and what type of tire had better rubber allowing the tire to last longer. The more expensive tires only cost me an additional $200 for the set and were a world of difference for performance and durability. I was hooked! My brother proved how invaluable a knowledgeable salesperson can be.

ITEC proved to be the honey-hole for all that the tire world has drawn me into. This convention educated the engineers on rubber, plastics, molding, chemicals, machinery and everything an engineer of all walks would need to know about the making of a tire from A to Z. I visited every booth, asked questions, soaked up a lot of information and picked up some cool pens and tire swag along the way.

If you’re like me, you would think that the majority, if not all, the tires are manufactured somewhere in the Midwestern region of the USA. Actually, of the top 50 tire manufacturers, only 3 are headquartered in the USA: Goodyear, Cooper and Carlstar Group, which is a producer for specialty tires for agriculture and construction. 18 (35%) of the top 50 are headquartered in China. A few of the other top producers of tires are headquartered in Italy, Germany, Japan, Russia, Canada and India. Tire operations for the USA are mostly planted in the Southern and Midwestern states. Bridgestone, Carlstar, Continental, Cooper, Goodyear and Michelin produce the majority of their auto and light truck tires in states like Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Oklahoma and Alabama. In the USA the top producers of racing tires are Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. and Goodyear.

The privilege of leaves for government employees is even greater at 5 weeks in a year. Apart from the 4 weeks of paid leaves, the employees are also granted sick leaves of 10 days in a year. The best part about these sick leaves is that they are added up to 3 years if not used. However, if an employee leaves the company, then he is not paid any monetary benefits for any unused sick leaves.

There’s also the concept of long sick leaves. You might want to know what the same is. Such leaves are provided to an employee when he has already spent 60 weeks in employment with a company. These leaves are carried over. But just as in the case of sick leaves, these leaves are also not paid in terms of monetary benefits when unused in case of an employee leaving the company.

The Australian government also takes care of the retirement of its employees. It ensures that the 9% portion of the salaries of employees is paid into a superannuation fund which is later used for investment. These superannuation funds are not accessible by an employee until the age of 55.

New Job Opportunities

Explore Your Hobbies

Apart from the things learned in college, exploring hobbies and getting to know one’s abilities in extracurricular activities proved wider job opportunities for graduates. Regardless of the degree, there are numerous job opportunities and occupations out there to welcome experts and professionals in various fields like art, music, entertainment, film, design, sculpting, and others. If becoming an accountant seems difficult, as one fails multiple interviews with big companies, panicking will not solve the issue. Looking at what one can do and exploring different sides of the cube might help expand job opportunities. An accountant graduate might get a job as a professor in a business institute and a part-time job as an arts and crafts tutor during the weekends, for instance.

For high school diploma holders, job opportunities might seem a little scarce and unwelcoming. However, being a professional or an expert in some of the specific fields can help widen job opportunities. Working in fields that don’t require college degrees does not only mean it is only limited to part-time or freelance jobs. If one is an expert in writing, becoming a world-inspiring writer wouldn’t be impossible at all.

Expand Your Thoughts and Be Optimistic For Good

Optimism does not come naturally for some individuals, and that is understandable. Not everyone thinks positive all the time and there are reasons for it. Nevertheless, expanding one’s thoughts a little would do magic to the abruption of emotions, keeping them calm, and not overly eruptive. There are times when stress and negative thoughts harm individuals mentally and physically. Therefore, expanding thoughts and being more productive as well as creative can help lessen stress, anxiety, and keep the levels of worries low.

Paralegal Job Description

  1. Get a job as a paralegal professional. This may sound like the easiest answer and kind of defeat the purpose of this discussion, but it is a possibility that you will be hired without any formal training. If you are hired as a paralegal professional and you don’t have any extra training beforehand it is because the attorney’s office plans to train you themselves. Some companies and attorney’s offices will prefer this as they can train you in their mold instead of having to train you again and struggling to change bad habits you may have picked up before.
  2. Look into online paralegal professional training. Like anything with the internet, you must verify that you are not doing something that is shady or that you are not using a service that is not recognized as a legitimate degree. Verify that you are getting good online training and you will have many different options for plans and length of training. The internet has become the place to learn and be taught, just make sure to research before buying.
  3. Take a course at your local community college. Paralegal training is not usually offered at schools that offer four-year degrees but they are offered at community colleges and vocational institutions. Again, verifying that your program is legitimate is important and the more you do this the better off that you will be.

You may find another way to become a paralegal professional but these are the most common ways to complete your aspirations to become a paralegal.

Getting a Good Locum Job

In general, ‘locum’ refers to, working as a substitute in the absence of another person for a specific period of time. It is a good option if you are looking for a temporary job. With this, you’ll be allowed to live your life as you’ve always dreamt of, while still maintaining a career. As the demand of locum doctors have been increasing in recent times, different agencies have been created to get rid of unemployment and provide job opportunities to everyone on a temporary basis. There are many positions available while working as a substitute in a hospital which includes medical assistants, surgeons, physicians, nurses, psychiatric consultants and radiologists.

Tips for getting a good locum job:

  • Make use of your contacts – one of the best ways to get a good locum job in a good company is by asking for help from your friends, colleagues and relatives. This would positively help you in exploring many options and getting good job opportunities as per your talent.
  • Work experience – if you have already worked as a locum before, you’ll be given the first preference as compared to others as experience always plays a vital part in getting the job!
  • Taking help from the job agents – the best and time-consuming way to get a job is by taking help from the job placement agents. No doubt these agents will ask for their commission but you’ll definitely be getting a good job as they have links with many locum hiring agencies. They will ask for your resume and will contact you as soon as they find a suitable job matching your qualifications.
  • Taking online help – the internet is the best and cheap way to get a wide range of job options as most of the locum hiring companies have websites where you can get registered by submitting your resume.
  • Newspapers and Journals – another effective way to know more about temporary jobs is by taking help from newspapers and journals.

Growth of Cognitive Careers

Historically there has always been a need for intelligent people, but the correlation between cognitive ability and compensation was never as strong as it is today. One could have been an astute lawyer, financial planner, or mathematician at the turn of the 20th century, but the economy just didn’t reward those people at the levels that can be done today. We’ve created a much more complex economy requiring well-informed, inventive, and knowledgeable people who can navigate and derive value from what is for many of us a puzzling network of esoteric information in so many areas. The employment appeal for smart people is high and growing.

For years we have heard about high unemployment rates and at the same time we’ve heard there is not enough talent to hire for hard to fill positions. The jobs that are vacant seek individuals with know-how in management, engineering, data analysis, and many other areas where information processing, creativity, and workforce resourcefulness is called for. Professionalism is deepening across fields that include medicine / healthcare, the law, higher education, the sciences, the military, advanced manufacturing, and finance. Routine and relatively low-skilled operations will not bring competitive advantages to these career categories. Only accelerated thinking will.

As a result we are seeing the growth of an educated class. According to the U.S. Census Bureau only 4.6% of the U.S. population had attained bachelor degrees or higher in 1940. Today it is 32%. As this educated class continues to earn at relatively robust rates it appears to create an impression of inequality and disenfranchisement, such as we see being exploited in our current presidential election. However meeting the cognitive demands of a more intricate and perplexing economy requires educated people. Blaming the successful is not enough to improve the lot of us all. Directing one’s individual energies to where the expertise is most needed will.

The number of us prepared to meet the demands of the globalized cognitive economy is not enough if we are to continue being among the world’s leaders in innovation, business, and social transformation. Without relatively easy access to higher education for those with the potential to take the most advantage of this opportunity we all lose. Let’s agree that lifelong learning is essential for each and every one of us and entry into a college experience that challenges and pushes us to maximize our cerebral capacity benefits us personally and collectively.

However the expense of college is too high and makes going prohibitive for too many Americans. The cost of college has risen too much and too fast. To put this cost hike into perspective the New York Times Economix blog shows that since 1985 the cost of general consumer items has jumped 200+%, gasoline prices have risen approximately 300%, and medical care 350%. But college tuition and fees-575%! Are you kidding me? How is this in our best interests? This destructive level of inflation needs to be controlled. Our long term economic development relies on it.

Escape The City Jobs

A ‘free’ life eventually came at too high a cost in my career and waiting for highly paid work to arrive proved too much to bear at times. A flexible career also became a weight around my neck as I waited tirelessly for work and then was afraid to spend money and live fully.

Although I had what many considered to be the ultimate flexible job in the film industry, it wasn’t helping me to become free, or rather I was relying on an unreliable income source.

I searched for an answer in the form of an online income stream. If I could make regular money from the internet it would balance out the short falls and quiet times of my other work. Little would I know that it would lead to something even better – a reliable income from the internet.

That was the dream – constant income flowing on tap from automated sources. Unfortunately it took much longer than I expected and I lost a lot of living in the process. I lost some dear friends in the process too. I leaned too heavily on this ‘magic bullet’ of the internet and got burned.

Not that it’s all bad of course. I learned a lot about myself in the process and that’s a good thing. I stuck with it and never gave up – that’s enabled me to continue to learn and earn from the internet.

What Have I learned?

Initially I began with eBay the auction site and I bought and sold items. My room was full of second-hand stuff I had bought from the charity shops and I didn’t shift a lot of it. I was spending a lot of time travelling to and from the post office and standing in queues with my items which needed weighing.

I decided I wasn’t going to get rich by doing this. I was tired and it seemed a lot more hassle than a normal job would have been. I looked into ways of automating product delivery. One way was bulk buying and selling through a single listing on eBay. However this required capital – something which I didn’t have.

I kept buying courses which promised to show me a new and ‘quicker’ way to make money on eBay and the internet! Some of them actually worked but mostly they needed a lot of time and effort. Selling the information was a much better bet until eBay changed their rules about selling digital products.

You used to be able to sell a product on eBay and once you had received payment you could (automatically) send your customer to an automated website where they could download the product. That sounded amazing to me! It meant you didn’t even have to be there in order to take a payment and make a delivery.

Unfortunately eBay changed their rules so you would have to send a physical product rather than simply direct someone to an automatically downloaded product. I started down this line but then discovered affiliate marketing which was basically the same automated process – allowing you to sell digital products online and send customers to a website to enroll in a membership.

Membership products which meant an automated delivery were great products to sell on the internet. When I got my first taste of this working I was very excited! I sent people to a sales page which then converted into a sale. They got instant access to a membership program and I could automate the entire process.

I checked my email the following day after setting up one of these systems and found several sales. It was an amazing moment. Sadly it didn’t last and my AdWords account was shut down. I was devastated and it wasn’t until a long time later, and with another course, that I repeated this success.

Getting a Job After CNA Exam

Schools and professional organizations offer the training needed for these caregivers. It is also a common practice for retirement centers and other long term care facilities to provide initial or advanced training for their employees. After training the pay increases with experience and any additional training that may be available. Grants and student loans may be available for those wishing to train for cna jobs; it depends on where you are located and the opportunities available. Costs of the training are usually a few thousand dollars and take place over a four to six week time period.

One way to receive training and figure out if this is the right job for you is to volunteer at a local care center or long term facility. This will enable you to see the work close up and decide if it is a good idea to pursue CNA training as a career choice. Volunteering also is a good way to check out prospective employers to see if working with them is a good fit for your job skill set and interests. There are jobs available across a wide spectrum of locations; hospitals, care centers, hospices; adult day care centers and other institutions.

The jobs do have a high turnover rate due to the opening up of more opportunities among existing CNA workers. This is one reason why it is a good idea to check out the training and find out if an employer is willing to pay for the training you need as a certified nursing assistant. The career can be a rewarding one in many different ways and for those with the gift of caring for others, it is a good beginning.
